Mònica Maspoch


Since 1998 her research line has been focused in the analysis and development of study methods and documentary research on the domestic architecture in Barcelona and its beam structures. She has a PhD in Art History from Universitat de Barcelona 2013.

In university teaching she has given lectures focused in Catalan medieval art classes in the Art History degree in the Universitat de Barcelona. Currently, she is an adjunct lecturer in the Master in Cultural Heritage Management and Museology from the Universitat de Barcelona, in the area of the architectural intervention of historical heritage. Since 2005 she is also a collaborating member of the research group “EMAC, romànic i gòtic” directed by Dr. Rosa Alcoy, from the Universitat de Barcelona.

She is author of books about the promotion of art nouveau for the Institut de Paisatge Urbà de Barcelona. Moreover, she has produced scientific knowledge on medieval beam structures in domestic architecture in Barcelona.

Since 2001 and up until now she has been a founding member and head of projects of three business companies: Qualitat Kultura, management and advisement in scientific historical projects (2001-2006), Itinera Plus S.L., cultural services company (2005-2015) and finally Riosta Barcelona.

In the research and architectural intervention field she worked with the private company Veclus S.L. (architectural heritage’s management, documentation and advisement) and she cooperates with different public institutions (Ajuntament de Barcelona, Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, etc.). The latest research projects have been in Casa de la Caritat of Barcelona, the Güell pavilions done by Gaudí in Pedralbes, and the medieval beam structure of the casa Marquès de Llió, current Museu de Cultures de Barcelona.
